Paper Bag Coconut Popcorn

I love popcorn. It’s fun to eat, can be flavoured in hundreds of ways, filled with fiber, and is nutritious (depending on what you add). I usually like to enjoy a bag at movie theatres but I’ve always found their version a bit too salty!

As usual, I look for quick and easy recipes to try and this paper bag version is no exception. All we need is a brown paper lunch bag, popping corn kernels, a microwave, and coconut oil, and it will be ready in less than 5 minutes!


1/4 cup dried popping corn kernels

1 tsp coconut oil


  1. Put the popping corn kernels in a paper bag and fold the top over (making sure to fold it well so no popcorn can escape)
  2. Pop in the microwave for about two minutes or when kernels pop 5 seconds apart
  3. Melt one teaspoon of coconut oil in the microwave (around 20-30 seconds)
  4. Mix popcorn and coconut oil together in a bowl
